Nifty, will have to take a look Cybermat, also love your current signature, Wolfpack is an awesome song and that chorus at the end is the best bit.

Anyway, War Thunder, in two parts now, with part two containing the adventures of Spider-tank!

Hunter goes duck hunting.

The 1942 Gumball rally gets off to a bad start...

So, it starts out with the Archer in front of us knocking out part of the bridge while we were crossing it..

Hunter pushes Raptor out of the way...but then becomes stuck himself

Wheeeeeee! Goes Hunter

At least the Archer who started this had the decency to right Hunter

My situation, meanwhile, has not improved....

Raptors attempts to save me instead create....

SPIDER TANK!!

Take a look overhead, there goes Spider-tank!

Eventually I climb down the side of the bridge

And drive off again...

At least the British tanks are here. I'm happy for that.

Pacific Norway was a strange place in 1940

So, I decided to have another bash at one of these 'Enduring battle' things, it's on simulator only at the moment so I plugged in the shebang and off I went.

Yeah, Gaijin really need to work on it, because right now it's a whole load of nothing. There's no real directive to things, it needs more AI to attack, unless I just happened to roll in towards the end of one of the battles, there was only a handful of people on anyway.
So, after derping around in an He-51 for a bit, I finally 'unlocked' the Bf-110 and took that for two bombing runs on an enemy base, by which time I was the only person on the mission so the biggest danger was the ever present flak.

The base was destroyed, and so on the way back I decided to have a bit of fun with the 110.

And safely back at base, seven or eight bridges without crashing, that's a new record for me I think.

I like the concept of the Enduring Confrontation matches. They need work and unfortunately you're unlikely to see very many people in the simulator battles, though. I think this sort of idea could have been extremely good with very large scale and high population tank maps, but that doesn't seem very likely to be implemented.

Fully agree, although I think that you would need to put in some sort of moving spawn location like in some of the standard tank maps because of the large size of the Enduring Confrontation maps, but it certainly could work especially if the player count was high enough, a full combined air and ground scenario would be excellent, with multiple targets, ground units would be tasked with taking territory and holding it, while air units would have the options to hit factories, anti-tank defences and enemy aircraft.
Sort of a cross between WWIIonline and Battlefield 1942.

We can dream.

There are few things as satisfying than to shoot down a plane with the main gun of a tank.

Nice shot.

Rosehip away!

One tank down!

And another!

The Marder turns to face the threat

In time to receive its own present

A Gepard tries flanking...it doesn't work.

This guys flanking move however...

Oops

So we try again and nab a StuG and this Panzer before a surprise visit from a Flakpanzer ends our fun

To the skies then! We strafe one flak truck and just miss this one with our bombs

This is why I usually avoid direct strafing runs...but...

I got the kill anyway...

And then...so did he...

Time for swimming!

So we switch to the Hurricane, with some rockets!

Ok...ordinarily that would have killed that Panzer, how odd...

Strafing the enemy forces

Aha...don't need rockets to kill you...

Simple .303s into the exposed rear will do the job

Chasing a 110 which appeared, ran out of ammo before I could take him down, so left it. The map ended with our victory shortly after, with me having 12 ground kills and 2 assists to 4 deaths (Two in a Crusader III, one in a Matilda II and one in the Typhoon Ia).

Just in case people think I'm actually a professional...
