Default Comparing SH4 SH3 (not the same old discussion).

Yo guys. I just recently installed SH3 and SH4. I wanted to ask something about the two. From what Ive heard SH3 is more developed mod wise.
My primary question is GWX gold vs Monsun (latest). When I look at the recognition manual for Monsun merchant ships (from the pov of a uboat captain) there was around 135. I checked out the GWX (only gwx installed and nothing else- including no gwx mods enabled in jsgme) and there were only about 65 merchant ships. What am I not seeing here? Thats nearly 2x as many merchant ships on Monsun SH4!

Graphics wise there is something that bugs me about SH4. My pc runs it great at maxed out resolutions so FPS is not an issue but there is something that makes it seem fake. SH3 on the other hand feels so much more immersive from a graphic standpoint. I know most people prefer the sh4 graphics so maybe im the onlyone here but whats your thoughts?

If you download IABL's Merchant Fleet Mod for SH3 you will get more than 70 new models plus special listings for different navies. Many of Lurker's OM ships are taken from IABL's models. You will also find a set of skin packs that add even more to the variety.

Couple that with SH3 Commander and my Ship Names mod and you will not only get hundreds of different ships to sink but each one will add a name, cargo loadout, crew number and crew lost number to your Commander log, which can then be placed back into your SH3 patrol log.

..and my Ship Names mod
I'll take a slice of that pie!! Thanks Steve
I'm going to assume an increased variety of ship, doesn't equate to increased ships on the briny...

You are correct. It just changes the ships you meet.

Oh, I forgot: You can also download a great many individual ships from our Downloads SH3 section.

Actually Commander does that. My mod just adds and organizes names.

Yes! I already installed MFM3 (and all its skins) as well as WB's USAM so I think I have a TON of ships. Heck there was a aircraft carrier docked at kiel lol. The modders are absolutely amazing here.

At the moment Im searching for a realistic experience but at 1920 x 1080. I love Ahnerbes Widegui mod but its giving me some issues using the other realism mods like Hitmans optics, OLC gold etc. Been working on my mods for about 2 days now. Oh and this is GWX 3 build. Perfection is elusive.
