These ever increasing harware requirements are getting totally out of control!!! I have an AthlonXP 3200, 512 RAM, 6800 Ultra and I can hardly play FEAR, Battlefield 2, or even NFS Most Wanted!
The need to concentrate on debugging and streamling code instead of trying to be the the game that crammed the most eye-candy that will BSOD or crash.
I agree, but with your system specs you shouldn't have problems with BF2 or Fear, hell my cpu is lower than yours and i dont get bsod playing those games. Upgrade to 1gig of ram and if you still get bsod, you possibly got a heating problem.
You should never get a BSOD, in any case, due to flaws in a user level program like a game. If the hardware isn't good enough, it can run slower or not at all, if it has bugs it may crash, but it should never take the OS with it. A BSOD may indicate bas OS programming, bad driver programming, or faulty hardware. Of course, current quality standards being what they are, those things would be expected.
