The pro gun lobby says "guns don't kill people, people kill people" and the anti gun lobby says bull, guns are evil in themselves and must be eliminated.

Anyway that's how your phase quoted above struck me.

Nuclear weapons don't kill people.
Poison gas does not kill people.
Such things are just peacefully lying around, never to be used..
