The Drone Papers
https://theintercept.com/drone-papers
A while ago I participated in several threads where the topic of drones or rather drone strikes were debated. I strongly criticized the way the US government conducts these strikes, due to how irrelevant collateral damage is in these operations. Now some guy leaked a ton of internal papers, another whistle blower. I thought to share it here. |
10 percent targets hit, rest collateral damage :hmmm:
Decision to kill by so-called "baseball cards", with short and often wrong information. I take it government and citizens would care more, if they knew exactly what is happening in their name. I can only assume what will happen in the next years, when every bloody nation will have drones, trying to get rid of dissidents and "enemies of the(ir) state" :shifty: |
Interpretation of those documents by journalist that took retarded pills are just hilarious. It's amazing what information was plainly sucked out of his thumb and people all over will actually believe it. :rotfl2:

Otherwise, you know... silence is golden and all that. Saying "it's all lies!" but not providing anything might work on reddit or something. Here, not so much. I am very interested in this topic, it fascinates me from various points of view and for different reasons, so I'm always happy to learn more about it. Edit: You say it is funny that people "just believe it", I say it is funny (actualy sad) that people still believe in "surgical strikes", who could work if the government/those responsible would have a doctrine that respects the lives of innocents more... or at all. This here is only about drone strike operations in Pakistan by the way: Quote:

Yeah, the day is coming when drones will be everywhere. Scary! :-? My ex-wife will probably have one on standby outside my house....

Technology causes problems and ultimately solves problems

The thing is, drones aren't the problem, be it military or civilian.
It is who uses them and how he uses them. Some MQ-9 Reaper is a fine piece of military technology and totally able to deliver pin point strikes with minimal effort and danger to own forces... but this all is moot when you happily apply a doctrine where civilian casualties are accepted. In the civilian area, they spread more and more, uncontrolled - that is the problem. Here in Germania, drones are used to deliver packages/important stuff like medicine to "remote" islands (Halligen), which is a good idea if conducted by professionals with maximum possible safety rules. |

By me? Quote me. Or anyone here who regularly participates in the gun thread, for I haven't read that once. :hmm2: |
The pro gun lobby says "guns don't kill people, people kill people" and the anti gun lobby says bull, guns are evil in themselves and must be eliminated.
Anyway that's how your phase quoted above struck me. |

Drones are bad and should be banned. Non trained amateurs have no use and no need for drones and we really don't need some moron flying a drone into a jumbo jet engine for that ''perfect shot'' You want a nice fotograph. Use your legs and climb a hill. |
Nuclear weapons don't kill people.
Poison gas does not kill people. Such things are just peacefully lying around, never to be used.. :D |

It will be interesting to see in the future how "clean" German drone strikes will be concerning civilians.
