You should be able to get acceptable performance without the 4Gb patch.

I have an older machine, a less capable graphics card, less RAM, etc., and I get good performance, provided I deselect the volumetric fog option. That one makes the frame rates drop in any exterior view (fog or no fog).

You might try to find a newer/older/different driver for your card.

Yeah, this machine is starting to show its age too, and SH4 ran fine on the machine it replaced.

Here's something worth checking. Look into temporarily disabling your audio drivers (not just muting the sound). I've seen audio drivers cause issues like that before. I don't know win 10 all that well so can't advise on how you go about that correctly.

For graphic drivers I'm kinda locked in, 15.7 is the only set of graphic drivers at the moment that is compatible with Win 10. As for audio drivers, I'll have to look into that.

I have heard of many issues with win 10 and bad drivers or driver issues trying to run on win 10 so I think your having a driver issue there.

the guys here are very smart and can solve "most" computer issues, just be aware they have a lot of jerks there that don't treat people respectfully so be prepared to deal with 2 year olds lol.

in the short term I think its best to roll back to win 7 and wait a year or so for win 10 to get things working right and "proper" drivers developed for it.

Webster, as always I always appreciate your input when comes to SH4. I've had this problem before, and as I get older and more senile I don't remember some things like I used to. That being said I just can't remember what I did that alleviated the problem.

As for rolling back my OS to Win 7, I don't think that will happen. However, I do appreciate the suggestion.
