It may not make a difference, but in addition to the above hints, when you load the CD, go to the Start and Run command, browse to the CD, and run the Setup.exe instead of the Autorun. Run Setup as Administrator, and as previously pointed out, place in a directory other than where the installer wants to put it. I use C:/Games/Ubisoft/SH4...works for me.
