That's true I guess. Most BS comments about football I have read came from Americans who complain that "nothing happens" or that there are "no goals ever".

Yeaahhh sounds like true experts...

I'd be surprised if the latest success won't do anything for the sport in the USA, it should become more popular over night, really.
At least I hope so.

Default American cricket

If you're worried that "nothing happens" in soccer, things could be worse:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...l_cricket_team

Only five cricket pitches in the US and only three of the National Team-members are American born, it says here...

Oh but things do happen. All that "nothing happening" is two sides jockying for position or advantage. It makes the goal that may or may not happen that much more exciting.

If you understand what is going on. How the teams play, and what they are trying to do to each other.

Hockey is hard on Americans too, though to a lesser extent, and you see alot of the same tactics at play, though at a faster pace.

I cannot wait until the men play, you guys can have your cup back then.

Congratulations to the USA....well deserved

Congratulations to the English Lionesses also, who beat Germany into fourth place

I wonder what the result would have been had it not been for that fluke own goal in the Japan semi final

Well..... if you look at the heads-up results vs shared opponents.... the US would have handily thumped you brits.

On balance I would have to agree

Provided you turned up in time for the kick-off

That was a pretty exciting game.

And that first goal in the first three minutes. I guess the Japanese was not expecting that.

That first US goal was......

wait for it.....

wait for it......

almost here.......

a sneak attack!

(rimshot)

(Crickets chirping)
