VJ day makes a brief return! What a great way to finish the tournament up for the US. They put this game so far out of reach so quickly, but never took that lead for granted. Well done, ladies. Enjoy it...you've certainly earned it.

Sorry Mister Blatter.
This won't stop the DOJ from coming after you and your leutenants.:haha:

It's an easy way to milk money out of your cash cow.

I am a hockey fan and a hat trick is a huge feat in that sport, and not common, in the game known to my country as soccer, it is nearly unheard of. Carli Lloyd is a beast.

These girls have always been amazing, every year they make us proud, even if they lose, they fight and never give up.

These girls shattered records, and this is from a country whos teams gets sneered/ridiculed at by Europe, as if watching a toddler try to ride a bike for the first time. Look at them play our sport.

I find it a double insult, Japan and USA in the finals, 2 "outsiders".

Europe, we are stealing your sport.:arrgh!:

**Jaws music**

(edit: I would do filthy things to Alex Morgan....)

Like make her wash my socks or something....*whistles innocently*

Eh? Where do you get your information from?
Last time I heard the German coach speak about the US team (before the match), she praised the willpower and ability to fight of the US team. Not sure how that matches with what you said above...

They played really well and deserved the title this year, just like Japan did 4 years ago. The German princesses (not too fond of this team, honestly) weren't convincing.

But then again, it's only women's football...:arrgh!:

I heard that, she also called the American fans loud. The tone of the article seemed like she stopped short of calling them obnoxious, which is fine, they are.:O: But hey, we are patriotic as hell. :salute:

America does not help to foster the sport either, hard to get in a commercial break every 6 minutes.

I only think we were a joke is because it is not a highly popular sport here.

I was not crapping on you guys across the Atlantic, I just do not think Americans are given enough respect in this sport, these girls can now heal that image.

Our men even gave a great showing last time out, considering how much more competitive that is. (most the American men played on Euro Teams):hmm2:

I just wish more Americans would embrace the sport, but you trans atlantic pirates keep stealing anyone good we have.

Our MLS sucks because you guys pay more. *sour grapes :(*

That's true I guess. Most BS comments about football I have read came from Americans who complain that "nothing happens" or that there are "no goals ever".

Yeaahhh sounds like true experts... :shifty:

I'd be surprised if the latest success won't do anything for the sport in the USA, it should become more popular over night, really.
At least I hope so.

American cricket

If you're worried that "nothing happens" in soccer, things could be worse:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...l_cricket_team

Only five cricket pitches in the US and only three of the National Team-members are American born, it says here...

soopaman2 07-06-15 12:38 PM

Oh but things do happen. All that "nothing happening" is two sides jockying for position or advantage. It makes the goal that may or may not happen that much more exciting.

If you understand what is going on. How the teams play, and what they are trying to do to each other.

Hockey is hard on Americans too, though to a lesser extent, and you see alot of the same tactics at play, though at a faster pace.

I cannot wait until the men play, you guys can have your cup back then.:D

Well...their coach is English... :yep:

How the hell did they win?! :o

Jimbuna 07-06-15 01:55 PM

Congratulations to the USA....well deserved :sunny:

Congratulations to the English Lionesses also, who beat Germany into fourth place :sunny:

I wonder what the result would have been had it not been for that fluke own goal in the Japan semi final :hmm2:

Well..... if you look at the heads-up results vs shared opponents.... the US would have handily thumped you brits.

On balance I would have to agree :yep:

vienna 07-06-15 03:58 PM
