You're right that Vietnam was essentially a civil war but it was one that both sides had outside support. That's true too. The problem I have is that there can be a fine line between having a good cause, a good reason, and a good excuse. My personal opinion is that we crossed that line and then some. On the other hand so did they, which quickly brings up the same question all over again.

As usual I don't have any answers. I tend to react strongly to people whose expressed opinions seem to me to indicate that they think they do have the answers.
