Hello peps!
long time ago I saw SHIII on the shelve and I thought 'why not, this submarine is looking nice'...and after all those years I am still playing this great game. Also loved SHIV. Now Im trying SHV, we'll see if I'll be happy with it.

SHO Greetings well met fellows!

My name is Eric LaVigne...alias Pigboat 39. (got that moniker from an excellent book about the early S Boats in the Philippines). I am 55,a bit long in the tooth for a computer gamer, but love real time war games. This is a throwback to my early beginnings as a board gamer. I have a great interest in history, especially military history, so games such as SH5 offer me a way to explore for myself the experiences of the "U-Bootwaffe". All of the men in my family were navy men, although I sought service in the army. My Grandfather, David James LaVigne served in the old China Asiatic Fleet on a cruiser. My other Grandfather, Lucien LaCrouix, served on a Patrol Craft in the Atlantic, and later off the coast of France. Alas he was killed during the great Granville Raid in March of 1945.

I live in Tennessee, and love horseback riding, hiking, camping, and reading fine novels or interesting histories. I also enjoy the Silent Hunter series, and the Total War series games with SH5 taking a first place.

I hope I haven't been too long winded. Please accept my humble greetings to all.

Pigboat39, welcome aboard. Although, at 55, you're a little bit young compared to some of us around here! A board gamer, too! Tactics II?

I agree with BigWalleye you're just a youngster around here, I bet you're still in shorts.

Thanks guys for making me feel a little younger! How did you guess BigWalleye that Tactics Two was the very first serious war game I played?
I still have an original copy of the game too. And thanks THEBERBSTER for the links. I have already checked a few of them out....very helpful.

I guessed because it was the first wargame I ever played. (1962) An original Tactics II? Kewl! Can't match that, though I do have D-Day and AK.

Welcome to the boats! Good luck and good hunting.
