ship physics just stinks! -.-
hi all. Does anybody know any mod which can impropve ship physics? I mean, ships can accelerate and stop better than a F1 vehicle. They just see an enemy torpedo 6 feet away from them, and then accelerate from 5 to 25kt in less than 10sec..... it's impossible to get any escort like that at long range........
![]() ![]() any ideas? thanks I am in TDW and wolves of steel mods |

In order to reduce ship acceleration you need to lower engine stopping horse power values in ship's sim file (UnitShip controller)...You can use goblin editor to accomplish this.

5 to 25 in 10 seconds....that seems an eternity for a destroyer. Those things have MUCHO power to spare, unlike a freighter or other merchant.

Wow!!! Learn something new every day. I wonder how this could be implemented into the sim. This would make game play quite a bit different.

The next Leander was a light cruiser commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1931, two years after the date on that chart. If that's the Leander they meant then the line for that ship was purely speculative, which means that might also be true for the rest of the chart. That it was the ship they meant is highly unlikely, since that Leander wasn't even ordered until February 1930. With a full-load displacement of 9740 tons and pushing 72,000 horsepower she had a power/weight ratio of 7.39. Ambuscade was indeed a destroyer, commissioned in 1927, and had a power/weight ratio of 22.4. Of course there are other factors involved, particularly propeller slippage at low speeds, but I highly doubt that Ambuscade and Leander (either one) had similar acceleration characteristics.
