For our english-speaking colleagues, the England side will make it through to the last 16.
Why? Because i cannot see Italy losing or drawing with Costa Rica, stranger things have happened, as this wc has already proven, Spain i'm looking at you in particular.

Without another player like Cahill, we may struggle to reach the finals of the next WC.

England got what they deserved...defeat.

Now they need Italy to win their remaining group games against Costa Rica and Uruguay to stay in the tournament.
They then need to beat Costa Rica in their final group game.
England, Uruguay and Costa Rica would then each be on three points and qualification would be decided on goal difference.
But the statistics are not on England's side as no team has ever lost their opening two games at a World Cup and progressed from the group.

This coming Thursday is The US vs Germany and this will be a game of some interest to The Frau.

She has been an American Citizen for almost 20 years. For such mundane things as National Security and fighting Wars, her loyalty is clearly with the United States. But she confessed that for the really important stuff, like the world cup, her loyalty is with Germany.

For many, the World Cup is at the importance level of life or death. For some, it is much more important.

I try to maintain a position of neutrality. I just like watching the game.

Too bad the game is in the middle of the day. I will see if I can get some space to take leave that day. Unfortunately, we have no provision for watching it at work.

Well unfortunate for the workers, probably fortunate for the company.

I call BS to this. I propose, your honour, that Mr. Steed was in fact at the pub, watching the match, where he passed out! To save face with his subsim mates (the English ones), he quickly put on a cricket jersey and claimed to be watching cricket that whole time! Sadly, Mr. Steed put on an Indian cricket jersey in his drunken stupor. That still does not explain the urine stain, the gash on the head, and the unpaid 350 pound pub tab!
