As for the United States, same and lame as always. A brief surge of interest if they start well, national outrage for a nano-second when they crash & burn, and then back to sleeping through the baseball season. Tim Howard’s beard will finally consume his head.

England will lose to Italy and Uruguay and maybe get a draw against Costa Rica thus finishing bottom of group D

Brazil for the win and England to fail at the group phase.

Strangely enough, betting odds (currently) have Argentina at no 2, ahead of Germany and Spain.
Brazil at no 1, with England a long shot at 28/1.
You'd have to be game or stupid or both to put down on England.

My prediction: Germany v Brazil final with Germany to triumph.

I reckon the home crowd will be the difference if Brazil are in the final. None of the team will want to get lynched on the way out of the stadium.

My two dark horses are Argentina and Spain.

Even I am not daft enough to back England, so I may have a few quid on Spain retaining the trophy that they won 4 years ago.
