Coulda went without the love story, took time away from the destruction.
It was about 10 minutes away from a rom com. 3-5 stars. Just cuz Godzilla is always awesome.

Some of my co-workers saw it. From what they told me, it sounds like something to rent/stream. Personally, from what I have heard about it, it is not enough to entice me to go to a theater.

It matches the trend of any modern remake anymore. I think alot of it comes into peoples expectations based on the fond memories the original invoked. Godzilla was a staple of my childhood, and while the CGI was awesome, destruction was adequate, they threw too much (human) character development and borderline rom com stuff into it, and didn't make it about the monster. Remakes stink, just look at how they wrecked the Posiedon Adventure. It did not outright stink, but the smell of remake was in there, and nearly an hour to get to Godzilla. Sheesh.
