Default Anything to hunt in the Pacific?

Horrido Kaleuns,

I play SHIII + GWX 3.0 and I am planning to make a single player patrol around Australia up north to Sydney, where the real U-862 hit two ships.

Are there any ships in the Pacific to sink, or is the Pacific left out in the game?

Kind regards, Kurfürst

Not populated. A few years ago someone was working on Pacific scenarios but Ubisoft had an hissy fit because they were developing SH4.

I have to disagree on that.
There are ships there in GWX

Here is a patrol log of mine from this area

There are pretty old.

Thanks for your input, Gentlemen!

I made a voyage to Cape Town with the Deustchland and found plenty of shipping. I'd say that there is Indian/Pacific Ocean shipping. And you can be in the Monsun Gruppe with GWXA, so it's a fair bet.

As I recall, what got scotched due to SH4 was the development of a full-blown US Pacific campaign, a la Pacific Aces for SH2. I also think I recall the SH4 devs asking politely that the Pacific mod be cancelled, not having a fit, hissy or otherwise. Of course my memory isn't what it used to be. But then my memory never was what it used to be.

On the other hand the Pacific is problematic in SH3 because you can't cross the International Date Line. SH4+UBM with Op Monsun is perfect for that sort of thing.

Looks like I need to go raid Darwin Harbor!

Sounds as good or better than Port of Spain

Well it depends on which campaignfiles are enabled in JSGME. If you have the Indian Ocean or the Merged campaign enabled you might find something. Otherwise it is virtually empty.

And then only in the southern part around Indonesia/New Guinea and Australia.

Interesting... I've never been that far East. Might be time to take a look.
