For spoilers in that department you might want to check out The Day Lincoln Was Shot. It's an outstanding but little known teleplay about the whole conspiracy, with Rob Morrow of Northern Exposure absolutely brilliant as John Wilkes Booth.

My wife has several pair of those. I always enjoyed the balls during events and the fun of working through the layers later...


Lang is an amazing actor, more of a stage actor, but a great historian in his own right.

One thing they're supposed to be pushing for is more reality. Maybe you noticed, but in Gettysburg and G&G's there is no battle gore The only gore really was after battle and minor. A lot of that stemmed because the reenactors furnished their own uniforms and they're expensive. They did a lil better with the fake beards in G&G, but supposed to have that corrected, in Gettysburg it was terrible. The issue with fat reenactors was also being talked about.

They have some great historians advising, such as Eric Wittenberg, he can be an ass and rude, but knows his stuff.

So yes, we should see some gore, cussing, but don't expect Deadwood. Who wouldn't want to see Sara Evans naked, but don't expect any nudity.

I love the rubber bayonets.

We used to do post battle hospital demonstrations with make-up. We've made people throw up before.

We used to do arty wounds, so there were lots of splinters, missing limbs, etc.

We had one guy, who was really skinny and flexible, so he would fold his leg back and you'd swear he was really missing his leg!

One year, (about 5 years ago) we had the public carry back the wounded soldiers after the battle to the field hospital. My son was with me that year and dad din't come home from the battle. Well, I was carried back, with my head wound and dumped infort of the hospital, where my son was waiting for me (it was part of our camp). It was interesting to see my son's reaction. I didn't break character and kept a stone cold face. My son came up to me and poked me lifted my kepi off my face and stayed by my side during the whole demonstration. Finally, the surgeon came up to me and said I was "done" and moved on. There were a few people crying when they realized what was going on, as his reaction was real. He just stayed there by my side silently.

I finally got up and gave him a hug. He was pissed though.

Hehe, I'll have to pull out my albums one day and do some scanning. My wife was quite a beauty in her day, put her up against any of the beauties in the good lookn women thread, still looks good for her age, me, not so much...
