Nobody seems to know what those wooden bits in the side of the fuselage are though. |

Here are some of my photos from the airshow, sorry about the poor quality. This aerial photography is tough, I have some lovely shots of empty sky!

I saw a Me 163 Komet in that hangar. Did you get any close-ups of that?

On the same day it was the 2nd annual Cleethorpes Airshow, held along the seafront (estuary, really!). They've been edited to remove a persistent mark on the lens, and for size.
1 - 2: The Vulcan, unusually it's display time was early in the listings and it was only down as a fly-by but I'd call it more of a half-display. 3 - 4: B-17 'Sally-B', I remember seeing this one in the late eighties and early nineties but not since then, glad to see she's still displaying - the last B-17 flying in Europe I believe. 5: Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, one of only two flying in the world. 6 - 9: Typhoon. Another tremendous, noisy display. After the Tiffy's stilted, prolonged development I was initially nonplussed by it. After seeing the thing display now for the third time this year the agility alone raises it up in my esteem. ![]() Yes, that last photo is deliberate. The airshow was free to watch the display.
