Default Uplay

After Uplay updated itself yesterday I cannot play SH5. I get to the main screen and when I try to load a game or start a new career I get is a small windows which pops up and says "The internet connection experiences problems and the current game session was saved. Please wait until the internet connection is restored or press the OK button to return to the main menu."
Now I uninstalled all the mods I had and tried to play with original install with no luck, the same message appeared.
I emailed Ubisoft and was greeted with an automated response saying they would look into the problem.
Yeah mates, I too am pissed off with the mongrels who treat us like crap.
I was so looking forward to playing for a few hours. (retired with time on my hands)
Anyone else getting the same message?

Try setting your uplay settings to start the game online and see what happens .

Agreed. My game would not work after the update either. Changed settings to online. Uplay logged on, found SH5. I went to offline after SH5 showed up in the game display. Clicked the SH5 icon and SH5 loaded fine then.

Will give it a go mate, but first I am going to load some of the mods you guys have so selflessly donated here.
I will let you know how I get on.

Got it working again (sort of) but only in online mode. It also overwrote my current campaign and replaced it with my old saved career from when I installed SH5 originally.
In offline mode when you click the Play button on the Uplay start screen, it instantly switches to the game exit screen "Thank you for playing Silent Hunter 5.....Time 0 hours 0 minutes etc."
I can't see anywhere you can delete old save games on your Uplay account so it reloads EVERY old save from my original install.
I have SH_NClient.dll patch activated withTDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_105_0 so I will turn this off and see what happens.
Can anyone please advise how the orbiter patches should be set? When none are activated, my save games folder is filled up with old save games even with a new install, vanilla SH5 folder in My Documents and starting in off line mode. This was before the Uplay Update when I could play in offline mode!

Right click the SH5 launcher icon and go to Properties / Compatability . Tick the box (Run this program in compatability mode for) choose your operating system . I can now run the game offline .
Start a new campaign

G'day Sober, tried that but but no luck, the game won't even start. I'll disable all the orbiter patches and see what happens.
Also Mikemike47 has uploaded another Uplay installer on Subsim for people having problems so I'll also try that as well.

EDIT

Disabled all the orbiter patches, no luck. Tried to install Mikemike47's Uplay installer and it said I already had a later version so.......still no go!

Finally got it working again after the Uplay update.
Did as you said Sobers and went online. Uplay loaded and found SH5 (wonders why it didnt find yesterday when I was online?).
Anyway after it loaded I went offline again and found I could still play ..
Now to just work out why I cant see all of Sjizzles charts.

Same problem. Even after sorting out Uplay userid and password change, the game will not load. So I unloaded all mods and have uninstalled the game.

I will try from scratch again.

I found out today that SH5 is discontinued and not even listed on Ubisoft support game listing. I sent them a message but the drop down topic did not list the game. I had to use SH3 in the list and then...no reply yet.

I've spent SO much time on this game, don't want to lose it now.

May 31 update: No luck. They are telling me my key is already activated by another. (me) So, having tried all possible, I bid you all a fond fairwell. I do not intend mucking about with it further. Next time they update, it all my go to pot again. Good luck to all. I go back to SH4, which is still playable and enjoyable.

If I ever see SH5 on sale somewhere, I'll buy it. It is still worth playing.

I have the same problem Raymond.

Had to do a password reset to get logged in and now it asks for my activation code, which it promptly rejects.

I have a support ticket in and noticed under products they list SH2 and SH3 but not SH5.

Weird

I pointed this out some time ago. That shows you just how ashamed they are of it Kinda like don't list it and people will forget about it.

Wouldn't that suggest they are proud of SH2??
