Problem with that is that those groups take things pretty seriously, especially ShackTac. Flying a helo into a crane or lighthouse probably wouldn't raise as many laughs there.

Point being we should get a better grasp on movement, positioning and such. Don't think the current follow-the-leader-and-scatter-on-contact wouldn't work too well there.

Those guys do look very organized. I watch their videos thinking about how much I would like to do something like that, and yet how silly I would look if I tried to do so.

I do believe all the new members of Shacktac go over a set of training courses.

for example, few more on CHKilroy's channel.

Some people take it way too seriously.

Yeah, I got to admit that was my biggest concern too, ah well, we've got a good thing going here, and that's what youtube was made for.

I don't mean to dismiss it: to me teams functioning as teams is what Arma is about. I'm just saying that currently we're a liability to each other.

Ever noticed how the 1 guy left in Rainbow Six gets more done than the "team"? We keep getting each other killed.

I think it would make Arma and RS3 more enjoyable, but we would need to make an investment and actually learn some things.

Learning is not the problem. (perhaps the use of the map by using the icons or something)

It's called taking point, communication and coordination, there something we can't do and that's reading eachother minds

Problem is when no one takes the point as being the Squad Leader it isn't going to work at all.
The Squad leader needs to communicate, if you're being quiet but still move forward you'll expect that we can read your mind, then your wrong we just follow aimlessly as your not telling us what to do.

Team stumbles upon a contact, the usualy method of us is to shoot it at will....meaning we trigger the response of the other AI to home in on us and we're usually not prepared or in the right location to fight this off. This is why Hold fire should be of effect at all time unless Squad leader tells us to open fire or a contact has spotted us and forms a threat.

I can jibberjabber about this into a skybird's lenght post but that's just all talk no action. I suggest we get a mission which is simple (sweep town or kill this general in middle of camp/town) and practice some communication and coordination.

It doesn't have to be strict, mistakes will happen but that'll be at least an improvement then our usualy headless clowns peformance

*Disclaimer* I'm as guilty in regard of lack of coordination and teamwork as the next.

Then you just can play half what we play as most missions we run requires the expansion Operation Arrowhead

ArmA II Combined ops (arma II + Operation Arrowhead) is the better deal 20€ saving 5€ then getting both titles separately.

I would be in favor of this.. I would love to play with a small group of you guys doing spec ops type sweep and clear missions. If I could work the editor any decent amount at all I would love to be creating missions for us to use, but I am no good at it.

On the concept of teamwork and communication, the game that got me into that and Arma was Project Reality for BF2, outstanding game if you were lucky enough (Most of the time you were) to get a good group of players. They are developing an Arma II version too, hopefully they will get it to the level of awesome it was at for BF2.

I agree, someone needs to take charge though. That and the followers need to "follow" the leader.

I wonder if I would fit in somewhere with my rubbish connection that hasn't ever been tested in online gaming.

Think there's some room in the trunk.

ARMA II and Arrowhead have been gathering dust on my computer for a good while now since the single player just plain sucked. And most of the good lads seem to be aboard here. If my connection doesn't get a heart attack, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for this.

We used to play Flashpoint with a group of three or four for what seems like eternity ago. Much of the discussion on the last few pages reminds me of those days. We weren't exactly organized either, but it helped a little that we had loosely designated roles. Loosely, as in, I was our team's driver, pilot and sniper. Not that it made it any more effective on the larger scale, but at least when we messed up, we managed to look semi-competent at it, having messed up the same way in the same roles for hundreds of times before.
