SH5, worst game ever!!!

Hello everybody.

I just wanna complain about this terrible "simulation" game , because I can't do it at home because they wouldn't know what I am talking about lol.

In one word, this game sucks.

Stock game sucks,full of bugs and malfunctions. Ok, somebody may suggest me the brilliant idea of using MODS.

All right, mods as a matter of fact, do wonderful things. From little details such as flags, and air gauges, up to the whole AI engine (thanks modders for that).

But game still sucks.

I've got a nice "soup" of mods in my game, like DynEnv v2.9, OHII, IRAI, (all in theory, compatible between them) and many more of "low" impact details,and it still sucks.

Full of annoying bugs, starting from a save game (who do really like the "medium fog" after loading a save game??), sonar man and all characters' voices are muted, (dunno why), no longer the crew can be in silent running, because "the officer" just says "no" while being underwater just because he wants to. The answer to that, "don't use mods" and we will return to the beginning, to the stock game and, as already mentioned few times, it sucks!

Mods are not enough, but my respect to all modders. Great job they have done but despite their hard and great work, this game is uncorrectable.

It is the worst game engine I have paid for and I don't know what you guys are going to say about this. But I'm really annoyed.

I'm not a SH3 player. I did play SH4 fully moded, but its performance, was fair enough (and I didn't pay for it,I guess it's called karma).

Well, I'm done with this game, which I didn't event get to half of it. I guess I'll return to SH4 when I'll get bored.

Waiting for your comments, or if anyone knows a solution to these infinite issues.

thank you very much xD

PS. This felt really nice xD. I'm relief!
PS2. sorry for the "bad grammar", I'm not an english speaker.

I'm not an SH5 player....but this thread caught my eye.

Looks like this guy needs a good dose of SH3+GWX3+SH3 Commander stat!

Seriously though. If you are into U-boats, you can't miss GWX. It's the best U-boat sim out there.

Also, everybody has a game that they hate in the sim Genre... I can't stand Train Simulators. I found MS Train Simulator in the basement and had about 10 minutes of fun just crashing...then I realized....TRAINS REALLY SUCK! Some people have tons of fun with it...but putting along at 40 mph with a mile of lumber behind me for a couple of hours just isn't my thing.

I'm at home in submarines and aircraft. That's about as far as I go with vehicle sims. There's the odd surface ship that I play...but subs and planes is the way to go. Just my opinion though.

I beg to differ, Try my Mod soup, if you will, but I am still shocked by these "Ugh, SH5 is the worst game ever!" Threads that appear only once in a while.
With the help of modder's (Including myself as a small time modder) the mods we create are to stop these threads from appearing, because many of us are happy with this game, like me, I am having endless fun with it after playing for about a year now, even the stock campaign.
Before I found mods, I finished the stock campaign even with the huge tonnage counts, and I found it a very enjoying, challenging game, and I enjoyed the Stock game so much.
I finished it twice, then I found Subsim, after that my SH5 experience changed for the better.
Mods galore, almost anything you want is here, New UI's, New Environments, refurbished AI's and many more.

So I cannot see why your complaining, it just takes some time and patience to find a good mod soup and fix the annoying bugs.

Remember, the helping community is all around you.

I whipped that one up in a few minutes. I wonder why nobody else thought about it...

Ah well, as long as my head can swell even more, I won't complain.

That is a very fine mod, after finding out how to use the GR2 Goblin editor, I have made modifications to ships myself, but most of the modifications are for my personal use, and I have not yet uploaded them.

I have to admit that I love the eye candy and mods for SH5 but I've never really got into the game, nor SH4. I have a true love for SH3 but that's just my own personal view.

Whilst writing this I just read Trevally's reply. I'd like to thank Trevally, sober and all the others who have contributed so much to SH5. If I improve my PC RAM and Graphics card in the future I will be having another go at SH5. It almost feels rude not to keep giving her a go

What makes you think we want to hear your view on this.
Why dont you post this in the Ubi forum.

Most people on these SH5 forum like the game and work at making it better.

Well if this post is your contribution so far
This post is now sounding like an attack on the modders and testers who have give a lot to this game and to subsim.

Some of these mods you have just rubbished are part of a paid download to help fund this site

You don't want to read it? then why did you read it?
Anyone who has a vague interest in submarine games knows this is THE forum. For THIS game. The forum title is: Silent Hunter 5.

@OP

I totally agree. The stock game is awful, the mods make a huge difference but the irritating bugs and glitches however minor are so many (and some hard coded re medium fog bug) I find it infuriating. I don't care that there are work around to most problems. I do not find it fun working around minor bugs for the entire game. Every year I download the latest set of mods on a new install. The difference between stock game is incredible. However, get irritated by minor bugs, start tweaking mod soup, or making new private mod, then realise I spend all my spare time doing that, before I ever complete the first campaign. I've never made it that far, and I have too many other interests and commitments to devote my time to it, so I uninstall and wait for next year.

The modders here, including Trevally above have put vast amounts of personal time and energy into not just fixing but finishing this game, but they were left with an embryonic turkey in the beginning, it will likely take a year or 3 more yet, judging by the time it takes me to make my little tweaks. Or there will be some minor bugs that can never be quashed, which probably means I'll never truly get back into it.

@everyone
I think you folks on this here forum need to accept that you are going to get threads like this as long as the game is on sale because of the state of the piece of software that was abandoned by UBIsoft. This feller wasn't rude, expressed gratitude for the modders etc. Listed problem medium fog bug... yes there is easy work around, just don't save until you don't require a save... doesn't work for me. For some people the time spent managing mods is more fun than the game, not knocking it, but for others more casual types or people who just want a decent 'simulation' it is incredibly frustrating to have paid for this product.

Threads like this serve to warn would be first time buyers about what they are letting themselves in for, which might be crucial to their decision to purchase and are as valuable as any other.

[QUOTE=Trevally.;2031413] Well if this post is your contribution so far

I guess that I'm supposed to "contribute" like you did with a nice blue face like this...

[QUOTE=Trevally.;2031413] Some of these mods you have just rubbished are part of a paid download to help fund this site

Guess I "hurt" your modder feelings man....I can't help you with that. In any moment I was disrespectful to you or any full/part time modders.

Oh, let me put once again my contribution like you...

[QUOTE=Trevally.;2031413] Oh dear

nice contribution for being almost a "co-founder" of this forum....

[QUOTE=Trevally.;2031413] OMG a SH4 fanboy:nope

same as above?

How constructive you are Trevally, seriously. I wasn't rude with anybody. Just with the game engine, and if you didn't read the end of my message; well, it was asking for help.

V13dweller understood the point of my post and really contributed trying to change the way of thinking of an annoyed person who became very disappointed of the game itself. Not the modders...... Let me quote you again, it is really a constructive answer.... (I liked that blue face lol).

Sammi79 also got the whole point. I'm not a modder, I can't be one nor having the time and the will to be one and try to fix all the game myself. That's not my job. Modders do, because as already mentioned, they feel more challenging to fix all game'sfailures than completing the game itself. And I completely understand that (If I had the knowledge and patience to do that, I would be a modder too).

And maybe, I made a big mistake in here. The concept of the game is really good. (which is the same for SH4 and I guess that for the rest of SH versions). A good patrol subsim in which you can spend almost all day in playing and dodging a pissed off DD (that's really fun because; to be honest, sinking unprotected lonely ships, eventually gets bored). So SH5 thematic is really nice. What I can't stand (and it is what I paid for) is the game engine itself.

It has more holes in it than a Gruyere cheese. Let me quote the SH5 mod community from the DynEnv mode:

"Known bugs and limitations:
 low precipitations occurrence, excessive medium fog occurrence, presence of fog even during wind storms, stars visible during foggy and/or cloudy nights, weather resetting to foggy after loading a save game (whatever was the weather before saving), and Navigation Officer reporting the wrong weather after a save game reload, are known SH5 limitations that cannot be addressed with the present mod"

That's kind of annoying and sad, even for the mod community. It's incredible that after, what is it? 3,4 years of existence of this game, its awfull engine or code, hasn't allow you people to fix that "little" annyoing bug (and many mane others). And I quote "little" because, as Sammy stated, I like to save my games whenever I want to (that includes a perfect patrol day, just 1000m away a nice big convoy) and then; wow! big surprise, I can't do that, because after loading it on the next day, oh carp! No more convoy because of fog?

Anyway, there's a lot of things to talk about in here, so many points to state, but it is not the time, nor the place or post.

So guys, I repeat ONCE AGAIN () (lol) quotaing myself from the OP:

".... or if anyone knows a solution to these infinite issues

thank you very much xD" and I should add "to make of this subsim a more playable and enjoyable wonderful game" and to help changing a disappointed mind.

Greetings to everybody!

PS. I expect not being rude with anybody as I'm not an English native speaker.
