Fifty feet down is long way to go when scuba diving ... that's for sure.

I wonder how insurance can pay off if there is no body?
Insurance pays off so long as there's a death certificate. So long as the ME is willing to sign off on the fact that his cause of death was being swallowed into the gaping maw of the Earth, his family can collect the insurance.

I did some searching about sinkholes in Florida and found this one ...
it's 120' down and very very old: http://www.floridastateparks.org/devilsmillhopper/

Welcome to Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park
In the midst of north Florida's sandy terrain and pine forests, a bowl-shaped cavity 120 feet deep leads down to a miniature rain forest. Small streams trickle down the steep slopes of the limestone sinkhole, disappearing through crevices in the ground. Lush vegetation thrives in the shade of the walls even in dry summers. A significant geological formation, Devil's Millhopper is a National Natural Landmark that has been visited by the curious since the early 1880s.

Sink holes are becoming a problem around the Gulf Coast it seems.
I'm keeping an eye on the one in Louisiana and now this?

Glad I finished up down there and got back North!

(I'm thinking it's a secret FEMA base to train Obama's Storm Troopers causeing the problems. )

We had problems in my area after T.S. Debby, water was flowing away from coast finding caves and lower depressions in areas until finally leveling out.

I just hope this guy did not suffer too much, but I fear it was not a nice way to die.
