Default Just an idea...

Hi all modders,

Something i find is missing ingame, even with actual mods (at least never found one for that - even FX):

- When a torpedo hit the boat, we should see a pretty big water spray (ok, depending the torpedo depth hit), but actual water spray is way too small not to say almost inexistant IMO...

Would be great to have a mod for this rendering at least like the DC rendering...

I'm completely unable to make a mod so i'll let you this honor

already done.. FXUpdate..
but there is one small issue, you can see water splash close to victim only.. I think not more than 1.5-2 km.. you can ask TDW in what range you can see it..

Exactly, I was going to say the same

Yet, there's probably space for some improvement. Threads were the topic had been previously discussed (with footage and pictures):

Long ago I had done splash textures which imo were looking far better than the ones by sergei. Should look for them on one of my external HD's.

Nonetheless, better textures are only a tiny part of how torpedo splash appearance. This aspect needs to be addressed through its respective particle generator

Well, using FX of course, this effect looks unfortunately ridiculous on my rig.
Even close!
In real, i'm sure we should see huge water spray (as on some historical photos/videos)...

But maybe it's again Nvidia related?

Do you think i can enable Torpedo Splash mod with my list?
It says "Tested with SH5 ver 1.1.5"...

I have an ATI gfx card, and though not being exactly "ridiculous", the FX update torpedo splash effect don't get even close to the one seen from original photos and videos

You can try that mod. It only changes few dds files and should be compatible with any SH5 version.

Don't expect too much anyway

Thanks, so i'll give it a try soon.

I've opened those dds files with my photoshop, and i noticed the too much greyish color...maybe i can whiter them a bit?

dds files called vertical splash are not that vertical...as large as vertical
Maybe we could make them less wide and more high?

Torpedo splash enabled but it is almost not visible on the FX background..
And no, you can't just make a texture higher and narrower..

I always hated the explosions in SH5, even with the old style explosions mod. The plumes of fire and smoke that appear upon impact look so low-resolution that it seems like a very poorly done sprite.
