Having people off the roads does make a tremendous difference. That being said, it is pretty hard to sensationalize 3 feet of snow.

The storm was tough on the Jersey shore due to the wind and surf. Sandy's effects will be felt all winter.

Yup, we got about a foot up here. By now most of everything has been cleaned up. Not a snowpocalypse or anything, but certainly more than a light dusting!

I too love snow. Especially now that I am no longer responsible for shoveling the stuff

We got nuthin here in northern Delaware. I wanted to see at least 2 feet so I could make a few bucks with the Kubota and the 50" snowblower. I know we moved south to get away from the frigid North, but I didn't move to give up on snow.

I remember the blizzard of 77-78 and it was no fun at all. Sucks when you have no power or heat, and no generators like we do today. Was no fun being snowed in and stranded for several days either..... unless you have a snowmoble.

Snow is a four letter word that results in a mouth washed out with soap. In grade school I liked snow. After that not so much.

Yea, this is starting to.... I think it's worse than yesterday. The wind is just howling and still snowing. Haven't been out in 24 hours. See the odd 4x4 driving by. Visibility is bad.

Monday it's suppose to be sunny here, Charlottetown, with light winds. Just in time for work.

That sums it up very well.

Why? Ratings. News reporting is no longer a public service, but an entertainment venue to be sold. No one is going to be interested in the report that New England was hit by a big storm, but New Englanders being who they are, are handling it as they a ways do.

Perhaps you are not unfortunate enough to live in an area with a dictatorial HOA who will fine you if the walk is not cleared 0.1 seconds after the last flake falls. I hate HOAs.

On the contrary, I'll be willing to bet that a lot of New Englanders spent this weekend watching lots of news. I know that I do when I there is a big storm bearing down on me.

Nope, I chose to live in a rural valley. Gated communities suck rocks and I'd tell the HOA; If you're so worried about snow on the sidewalk, you shovel it! I'm disabled.

How did y'all fare down there in the flat lands of eastern PA?
We saw maybe six inches here in the western reaches of the Poconos.

I wish! Too much shoveling and scraping and brushing. By the time I finished yesterday I was useless for much more than watching movies.

Do you have a snowblower? (Scheewefer) I miss running the snowblower, back in the day. Now, I'm lucky to see 2 inches of snow in a year.

Oh yeah, it took three hour long excursions with it to clear the driveway.

I went out around 6pm and removed the first 3 inches of heavy wet snow since it started getting light and fluffy. By the time I finished (about an hour) there was already another 3 inches on the parts I had cleared first. I went out again around 10pm and removed another foot. That was the real fun one. Then the next afternoon as it was stopping I went back out and took another foot and a half as well as clear the mail box approach.

But we had to do the front and back decks by hand as well as dig a path out to the wood shed which I just finished today.

Just in time for rain and 45 degree weather on Wednesday...
