This is how I feel.

I wouldn't mind paying Ubisoft for what I consider a good game. I accept the principle that anyone who provides a good or service I want deserves to get something in return, 100%. However, Ubisoft seems to have the attitude that they should be able to make a good profit on a very poorly finished/unfinished product.

I have also come to think that all these mediocre Silent Sub Stuff games are using up all the oxygen, and leading to both customers and developers being soured on the matter. Why is it so much to ask, for a Good and Complete version of SH IV? I would be happy to pay for that!

...because publishers treat gamers as addicts and without competition they have free rein to take as much piss as they think they can get away with on developers and consumers.

This is why crowd funding holds hope as the developers have to reach out and appeal to their market 4TW 2Day.

if its free to play, then, you have to pay to upgrade then its a misnomer; it cant be free to play.

its like the Park is free to enter, but, you have to pay to go on the rides.

its an inducement, carrot and stick.

they have to make money - they'll not give it away - it will not be free.
the use of those words is misleading - they set you up to believe something that is not entirely true. the seed is planted and soon demands water. etc etc....

Actually following your fairground analogy it's more like a queue at the rollercoaster where you can choose to wait in a very long slow queue or pay to be in the express lane. The devs have stated that all upgrades in the game are available through hard slog (grind) or you can pay to quickly obtain items. Unfortunately this will result in a rich/poor divide in the game but since we are all on the same side (German) it won't matter that much.

Whilst this is not the full on sim most of us want at least it is something new and quite different offering a new higher level perspective on the u-boat war.

i quite like the idea of the 'hard slog' to get the upgrades. sounds more realistic to me - more in-line with the sims we love.
