They're not pushing the devices but they sure don't want to miss the boat on the profits.

Also, what costs are "nuts"? My ENDD has saved me over £1000 in 7 months.
I was referring to smoking cessation products (ie patch, gum, inhaler etc), which at least in Canada, were crazy expensive (more than cigarettes even, which are also crazy expensive due to tax).

While there are currently no accepted health studies on these devices any impartial study will show that they present no health concerns over and above any nicotine intake you incur within a normal diet, say consumation of Eggplants, Cauliflowers, Green Tomatoes or even Potatoes (yes, they all contain nicotine).
I wasn't referring to nicotine consumption per say, more the delivery system. also those plants do not contain a whole lot of it and most of it is in the stuff people don't eat or are unripe

Let's be clear about one thing. I have given up smoking but I have not given up my habit and I have no intention to. I have retained the enjoyment I get from smoking, removed the health impact and reduced the financial impact on myself and on my countries health service. It's a win win for me.
That's good, personally I am happy to be mostly nicotine (minus vegetable intake) free

Good point and if I may add:

Quote:
Nicotine causes heart disease by decreasing oxygen to the heart, increasing blood pressure and heart rate, increasing blood clotting and damaging cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels. Nicotine narrows the blood vessels, increasing the heart rate and putting more strain on the heart. It narrows the arteries to make them vulnerable to atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, which can led to heart attack or stroke.
In other words more nicotine equals more damage. Trace amounts of nicotine found in some foods should not be used to justify ingesting large amounts of the stuff for no other purpose than to get a buzz.

As you posted "Trace amounts" are the key.

An average cigarette contains about 9 milligrams of nicotine of which about 1 milligram is consumed by the body by smoking it. A typical cigarette contains about 1 gram of tobacco. (http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/f...Tobacco/cigars)

The food that has nicotine occurring naturally in it have nicotine levels measured in nano-grams (1 billionth of a gram) per gram of food. Discounting the absorption ratio and the effects of cooking/preparing the food, I think that if a person were to consume enough food to come close to the amount of nicotine absorbed by one cigarette, they would have other gastric "issues".

One cigarette = 9 milligram of nicotine 0.009 gram
One potato = 15 nano-gram of nicotine 0.000000015 gram

(absorption rations not factored in)

So yeah, some food has nicotine - true fact
The amount of nicotine is of nano-significance compared to tobacco.
