Pretty much 'bug-ware' until SP1.

Default ref Win 8

I have been playing SH3, 4, 5 on two different computer with win 8. I had to use window compatibility mode XP service pack 3 to get SH3 to work. To get SH4 and 5 to work I had to re install the games( I am using Win 8 64 bit upgrade from win 7 64 bit) I was able to use my save campaigns and they worked. I an also using different super mod with both computer and had no problem with the games yet.

Isn't that a fact. I wouldn't dream of installing a new Windows roll-out before SP1. Windows ME & Vista are perfect examples.

Edit: As a matter of fact not installing Windows ME or Vista was the right move.

Hi Seqwin. I started with win 8 Pre release back in June. The product appears so far to be quite stable.

I've found out at our local MS store here in the Mall that MS is currently working on Windows 9. I was told it will will be an even more improved version of Windows 7. 8 will only be kept for Tablets and so forth. Might be a good idea to hang on to 7 like a lot of us are doing with XP. LOL

I plan on installing 7 Pro 32 bit very soon as I've found it at a great price. I'll be keeping XP also and plan on running a dual boot system. Or build a dedicated computer for 7 Pro. That's if I can persuade the kid out on the floor at CompUSA, that's been helping me with some tech questions, into selling me the I7 4.5GH CPU he has.

Default Windows 8

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to say I am running windows 8 and have SH3,4 and 5 running just fine.

There are many complaints about the UI, but if you just use the desktop app, the UI is the familiar Windows 7 interface, minus the start orb. Performance is much better than Windows 7.

My primary machine is a MacPro running Windows 8 in bootcamp.

My secondary machine is a Samsung i5 windows 7 tablet I've upgraded to windows 8 and I play SH3 just fine.

Well i got SH5 installed on Windows 8 pro, 64bit no problem, but when i loaded it up for the first time it would Crash to desktop complaining about my nvidia drivers are out of date? They weren't i know this is a bug but there was no way i could fix it. Rolled back to older drivers still the same problem then even tried nvidia beta drivers still ctd.

So out of frustration as i thought this could be a windows 8 thing, i went back to windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with SP1 reinstalled SH5 loaded it up and i got the same problem! Drivers out of date

Tried older and new drivers, and beta, repaired Direct x. No mods SH5 wont load into a game. Never had this problem with 7 before.'
'
I can't play SH5 now... I should of just left Windows 7 on as SH5 was running fine before the new OS install.

It does at first but stick to it for a while and it grows on you, i liked the Metro i think that's the biggest complaint from users is the metro and no start menu button but there is an app we can download to bring it back. Tho really windows 8 is for the android tablet, 8 is not for the desktop or laptop imo.
