As the article suggests, by the way, while incest is known to create medical risks, it is also far less of a medical and social risks than a multitude of other things, including smoking, drinking and eating fast food. Which to me again suggests that regulation of this is purely social - people will allow harmful behaviour to be a private choice if enough of the population does it, and deny even slightly harmful behaviour if it is culturally-taboo. I think there is a case to be made for protecting one's culture, but it shouldn't over-ride the common human right of all responsible adults to do what they please with themselves. Especially when it becomes political, which IMO is just a waste of the government's resources and an excellent way to bully minorities into submission, which no democratic government should have the right to do.

Oh, and it's not like I'm promoting incest. It's just that a) I see this as a matter of democratic principle; b) I also see evidence that fighting cases of incest between adults has probably caused more harm (in the broadest, including political, sense) than incest itself.
