Besides that you named I would have to say I trust deer stands alot more. Sure there will be 2-4 zombies at a deer stand but I always feel that they are safer and more reliable than the block apartments.

About a week ago the zeds were seemingly blind, although it was dusk when I played, but I've just been on a server - I spawned just west of Kamenka and as I was sneaking along the tree line to the town I saw a similar figure running along the coast. Friend or Foe? No quarter given or taken - the server messages had included 'if you're unknown and approach us we will shoot'. As we both approached the buildings I was spotted from some distance by a zed, my usual tack is to run into the sea and swim when I'm on the coast so that is what I did. But first I ran to this other survivor and ran in a circle around him. It worked a treat and the zeds all swarmed him, two minutes later a killed message appeared and he was no more.
![]() I continued, but now right by the shore I moved even more slowly and approached the first large building, or group of. All of a sudden zeds, farsands of 'em, all ran to some point north of me. When I say run, more like teleported - the running animation was much slower than the distance they travelled!!! The immediately to my right (east) a couple of zed are running into the water and there is a survivor swimming away, totally unrelated to the action to the north. I haven't seen this many zed, nor so fast, ever! Finally it was my turn, cut off from the sea I headed north to a deer stand, nothing could shake the zed off me and I was even caught a couple of times by a super-speedy bugger. All I could do was climb the stand and hope there was something decent up there, and the zed would take a while to get up the ladder - but no, fate was against me, karma after causing the other guy's death, a empty bottle of whiskey and two zed immediately up the ladder - side by side!!! ![]()

I dread the day DayZ will become pay-for. unless its at a low price, subscription or 40$ are both equally dissatisfying and rather annoying, because beta will be totally shut down, AFAIK, because the DayZ heads control all the servers, so all theyll have to do is shut down the servers and bam, no more DayZ

Wow, that was positive for him.
![]() I do like it when he reviews a game I've got, or want, and his review pretty much reflected my experiences bar the minecraft obsession.

![]() I like that DayZ its going standalone. I can't see the mods creators charging extra while using the ARMA player base like someone said above. Even if they abused server control like that Bohemia would flip out on them. But thankfully that drama won't happen because it is going standalone. I doubt it will cost more then the current world war two game based of a mod made for ARMA 2, 29.99 at launch. Thats pretty fair considering they will be using the same game engine as ARMA 2, plus it will get tailored for zombies. Then theres my personal opinions about it being hard to find a normal coop game because ARMA has basicly become a lobby for DayZ mod. So at the end of the beginning, or whenever DayZ goes standalone.... It probably won't cost much. It will split the playerbase in a good way. Anyone who wants to play military can go ARMA, and anyone who wants to play Dayz can go there and play tons of crazy game modes that will be made once it is standalone. To top it all off I bet Bohemia is helping the modders by tweaking the scripting system. When Operation Arrowhead came out they added alot of new commands for the game engine so it adapted to the Middle East gameplay. Can't wait until they tweak a combat sim engine for Dayz mod specificly. All they have to do is add a few commands and it changes DayZ alot. For example, if they made a "virus" function, then instead of typing a page of scriptto create a gamemode that starts with one zombie vs all other players.... it would just require two or three words to allow spreading of the infection and team changes. Sorry for wall of text. Zombies and simulators get me excited. |

Surprised Yahtzee actually reviewed it, given is usual distaste for multiplayer games. Personally I haven't tried this game yet, since i prefer coop/pve to PvP, though it is a cool concept.

You can play co-op, you just need to find someone you can really trust.

![]() When you open the MP Server list, your version is shown bottom right, while active servers show the required version in the listings. Never understood why DayZ was added to Steam Mods when it's never up to date.

Well does anyone have a good DayZ commander installer you could put up for download? Apparently, the one I DL'd off their page is missing files or something because it won't install, and Im having a heck of a time just finding the correct patcher files for DAY Z itself.
