Think I'll settle in on Norway 4 for the time being. Have played for nearly 2hrs
there today and only saw the red chain once for a brief minute or two.

Raided a market and found bunch of goodies, namely Czech BP, matches
and binocs. And some darn food! Amazing how clean the place was picked
with the peculiar exception being the fully stocked market.

Found tent too.. think I'll set up a camp somewhere in the wilderness.

I got my first proper play-session yesterday, and now I'm starting to see why this is so popular. Instead of going for the nearest settlement I just went around them and headed inland. It was pitch black dark, and not surprisingly I got lost pretty soon. After some stumbling around in the dark I noticed the clouds move away revealing a beautiful night sky, and instantly I remembered the greatest mission ever in OFP, the one where you have to find your way back to friendly lines without any navigational tools. The Northern star was easy to find even after some years, and with its guidance the way inland. A powerline finally provided me enough landmarks so that I could locate myself on the map that I luckily found on a Galaxy Tab in my pocket

A few deerstands later I now have an M16 with four mags and some other stuff, so the project for the next day is to find a canteen and something to make a fire with. A few close calls that night but no real action. It is pretty hair rising to hear the zombie "urrrrrr" in a dark forest in the middle of nowhere, especially because I assumed Zeds don't roam in the wilds. I still managed to meet a few quite far from anything.

OK, tonight was good. Met up (finally) with Orpheus' mates just east of Staroye making up a gang of six. Bagged five z along the way, and we've all just stopped and quit south of Dolina.

Had a nightmare time getting on the servers though - even with latest beta it wouldn't work - always one excuse or another. Then I downloaded sixupdater - I didn't even have to point it at any .exe or mod even though it was installed on my C: and everything else is on G: Worked first time.

Oh yes, the six-updater has come a long way since I last used it. MUCH easier to use now.

We had a couple of group photos last night near the deer-stand east of Staroye, here are a couple by Cosquae, edited by moi.

I'm on the right, Kat (or Cat?) to my left, then one of the two in the ghillie suits is Russ, and I can't remember the other two. Cos is obviously holding the camera!

I felt a bit sorry for Russ as I'd met up with him first after spawning and he was short of blood but I had nothing to give, eventually he got got eatedz by about half a dozen Zeds whilst I lay prone about 10 metres away. After they'd finished with him they left and it was my turn, to take his weapons and food (much needed beanz), thanks Russ!

If anyone knows the other guys, I'd be happy to add their names.

Nice pics! One of those guys is Scuz but I'm not sure which one, the other might be Neut? I'm not sure who was in your group by the end, ended up on a business phone call til later than I expected.

Going to be on tonight tho as I feel like I'm missing out! Subsimmers welcome, my steam details are a few posts up if anyone wants in the group.

Done a short stint which culminated into heading into the outskirts of Elektro, popped into the powerplant and got some bandages, zombies and blood loss for my troubles. Thank god for my Winchester...

So I spawned in 'wilderness' which actually turned out to be just west of Elektro, travelled west until the track and the road cross, here I confirmed my location. So now I definitely know where I am I head northwest-ish to find the powerlines, with the intention of following them to the powerplant. Nearing the powerplant I decided to go to the barn so I could hopefully pick up a hatchet which appears to be about the only decent weapon I can ever find.

All good, no zeds at the barn, two hatchets and some miscellany. I'm just about to leave the barn when I hear something outside - was it a zed?

All of a sudden the view from the barn door turns into a view over water, then back to normal. Then it did it again and I heard somebody get shot, not me!

Then again over the water, but this time with a dead guy on the floor - well, hovering above the water - and his killer right behind him, but in front of me, stood up.

Then back to the barn, I hear the shot, and just as I die I head over to the water again. Fade to black. You are dead!

Good job it's only at Alpha stage. And free. I wouldn't have wanted to pay for that to happen.

That wasn't my only glitch. Previously I'd spawned near Kamenka and headed east to Balota, got me some loot on the way, killed some zeds - as you do. Nearing Balota I alt-tabbed out to check the map, when I returned a minute later I was lying in a corner near Komarovo - exactly the same position I was in about 15 mins earlier. On the way back to Balota again I came across the same corpse in the tide as earlier too.

Maybe I should not alt-tab out?
