Ah good, was trying to remember the name of that one.

Still alive! Starting to be in a pretty good shape, plenty of food and drinks, clock,
compass and Makarov & Winchester. So far my biggest foe has been the inventory
that keeps eating my stuff.

Never playing ArmA before, and I am a lousy FPS player, but I am downloading now. Will be in game within the hour. Hope to see some of you.

Just logged back to one of the Norwegian servers to fulfill my masterplan:
Sneak to the main airfield under the cover of the night.

Buuut, I ran into a small problem.. it was.. uh.. well, it was dark. Like, REALLY dark.

And I must say, only one game has made me feel a wee bit scared before and
that was Vietcong, the mission after the long tunnel crap where you have
to sneak back to your lines during the night. DayZ gave me that same feel
times 10.

So, I logged in like I said and decided to try and get to the forest 300-400
meters to the north (I had logged out in the middle of a field). I start making
my way in the matte black night, only brighter bit being the cloudy sky.
With a compass in my hand, I feel my way towards the forest, barely visible
against the horizon. Suddenly, I hear gurgling and immediately stop moving
and go prone. Now that I was completely still and my own footsteps weren't
covering any other noises around me, I realised I was far from being alone.
I scanned around, 1.. 2.. 3 slowly walking shadows against the horizon to
my right and front. Great... ESC->Abort

Planets must've been aligned just right yesterday as not one server has worked
today.

Oh noes! My first murder happened today... it felt terrible...

Just kidding! It was hilarious!

So, on Norway 1, I was checking out some of the coastal towns when a server
wide lag spike struck, broken red chain and desync at max.
I continued checking the buildings and saw another survivor by the road, not
moving due to the lag on my end.

I ran to him, opened his backpack and looted 5 bloodbags from him...
Then I whacked him in the head with an axe three times and ran away.
Of course, due to lag I wasn't sure if I even got the bloodbags or if I killed
him, but sure enough when the lag spike went away the debug screen showed
the murder and the 5 BBs were in my inventory.

A big wave of perma-bans over the weekend has provoked a fairly hefty DDoS attack I think. AFAIK should be fine now though.

Yeah, the servers actually let me in now. But seems to be laggy still, Norway 4
with 40+ was smooth last night, now Norway 1 with 12-14 was throwing red
chain every few minutes.

According to their twitter, they've been under DDoS attack for much of the day and the main server had been down for several hours.

Just checked twitter and the latest is from 50 mins ago say full service resumed.

Cheating hacker scum, why don't they just stick to governments and media corps.

Anyone I can - I haven't been able to join for a couple of dayz (see what I did there!), it's night now so I'm currently looking for a GMT -a lot server. Well it's hard enough in daylight not to be z-feed!

Norway 5 was still day 30mins ago, tho they restarted the server so don't know
if they adjusted the time while doing that.

Norway 4 was day too just now as I logged off. (after finding a fancy pansy M16-M203+3mags )

I've been unable to join a server all night, keeps coming up with some excuse about something being deleted.carcharters.pmc (or .pbo) and similar. When it didn't I got an immediate kick.

I think maybe an uninstall/reinstall of everything is in order.

Enjoy your hols, CCIP, hopefully it'll be much better when you return.

Oh wow, I've been a lucky bastard today. Played for maybe 45 minutes just
now and found:

  • 2xLee Enfield + 2x2 clips
  • Double-Barreled shotty
  • 2xAKM + 2x2 mags
The LE's and the shotty were all inside the same barn and both of the AKM's
were in the same deer stand.

Too bad I only still have the default backpack, so ended up just switching the
M16 for an AKM + 4 mags.
