What map is it on? Zagrabah is a good map but I got a fair bit of graphics lag on it, so I'll have to adjust my settings in advance. That's why as we got further into the town I got more and more useless than normal.

Takistan. And yeah, noticed quite a large fps hit in Zargabad.

Ah, glad it wasn't just me then. Noticed on your video too that you had some kind of problem with the telephone lines, like a black haze around them. Bit wierd.

Takistan is fine though. Look forward to it. Thanks for doing the vid Dowly, I always look forward to them

Oh, and in regards to ACE, I agree with Dowly, there's no point, we're fine without it.

I had no issues with Zagrabah regarding FPS.
but also my settings in ArmA 2 are set safe instead of pushing the max.
I think most of the settings are set to medium and some are ticked higher.
both Resolution and 3D resolution is set to 1680 x 1050 (16:10)

Anyway it was a great mission and looking forward for more of those.

and regarding ACE, as above no point, we're better without and let's just stick to what we have assembled.

Had no problems with performance either, and I loved the missions. Especially the Delta mission was great fun, ie. simple infantry action in an urban environment, with revive. Imho very suitable for our needs.

Ace is something you don`t really miss until you try it, and I`m still all for using it. Great many excellent features.

Think we wanted to do part 2 of that mission from last time.

Want proof? Fine: I'll do everything in my power to be back home Sunday 00:00 local at the latest. Why? That's when NWAC unlocks on GG. Even if I have to handsomely bribe my brother to come and fetch me because public transport exploded.

There's no bloody way they're keeping me away from home 1 nanosecond longer than strictly nescesary.

* no wait, 10th isn't till Tuesday... well there goes that excuse.

I can try to host if needed. Not from an ancient laptop this time(that worked well didn't it ), but I'll just run a dedicated server and play at the same time from my desktop. Performance is a mystery, but at least it works.

That, or if anyone runs something better than a quad core 2.4ghz Q6600 feel free to do a Lydia("I am sworn to carry your burden")

I had read in January, I think, there was a new patch which has specific support for improved AI. I were in no mood for more experiments and scanned for feedback on that, but found none. So I waited until early this week to try it myself, reinstalling CO and attaching the new software kit.

Then I tried some single player missions with AI set to profi and options tuned up.

Wowh, I was positively surprised, compared to my last attempt over one year ago. The enemy actually does react to my actions now, even aggressively engages on his own and does flankings. Also, my own squads showed to be more obedient and follow my commands for formations, holding positions and such, which also was a grande malaise one year ago and made me deinstalling the game. I occassionally stumbled into the odd things, for example the enemy soldier I almost stood upon and him acting ia if I were not there, and I do not know what I should make of the fact that enemies now seem to lay down aimed fire on me with no unobstructed LOS (gras, bushes), so I could not see him and thus he should not see me, but still firing at me precisely.

Anyhow, I must say that all in all the game, from an infantry point of view, now is a much more enjoyable experience than it was on my first run with it one year ago. Nice that the latest patch seems to have had such an immense impact on it.

The benchmarking option in the mission menu gave me a result of average 43 frames, and throughout the week it all was fluid and well playable. Only when using binoculars, I sometimes suffer from a punishing drop in frames, estimated to reach values in the one digit range. Is there a cure for that?

I also like the way the have improved the quick mission generator. what is possible there, perfectly matches my desires for what I want to play: missions from 30 minutes - 2 hours, with just a few enemies, or three dozens involved. You launch, make some clicks, and have a quick 1 hour of nice mission play.

Got the BW mod and two addons needed for running that. Works nice, just an occasional error regarding I think a missing sound file for the MG3 on vehicles. I do not run those vehciles anyway, so... Okay, let's not be picky.

Ah, vehicles. As is tradition in this series, they are terrible, slightly improved over the last game versions, but still: terrible. But I do not complain, since I do not play this game to ride in vehicles, but to play from a infantryman's perspective exclusively.

It is more difficult to not get hit and killed, than it was in ArmA or Flashpoint, and maybe the mentioned LOS thing is exaggerated or even erratic, however - it poses a challenge and that makes it nice. No longer mowing down hordes and hordes, with the still living guys just standing by, watching.
