You must have been very lucky to actually see the Luftwaffe punch in their time cards and actually work.

They were working.

On the Eastern Front and defending the airspace over German industry. The Luftwaffe got stretched beyond it's effective limits. Which historically explains why you rarely see them at sea after 1942.
