I told TheBeast the reason I think the AI subs don't fire guns and I'm 99% certain it's because they aren't being manned (takes two). I told him that if he tried changing the deckgun to some other gun it will probably work. I'd do it but I'm knee deep in my GR2 Editor/Viewer and it's top priority right now

Once I managed to import SH3 guns in SH5, together with an imported ship (the Nippon tanker). I did so because the problem of standard SH5 guns being pourly rendered on .dat units. The imported guns were looking okay, and working fine too.

I wonder if the same can be done on a .gr2 unit with no graphical glitches or other side-effects. Why don't you guys try to do a test with u-boat deck guns from SH3?

Is that because the crew never come out on deck?
All the subs I've seen cruising about in game, look like the Marie Celeste!

Please help, IRAI doesn't seem to work for me:

I use IRAI 0.0.29 included in MO or OH2 (see sig). I'm in the Happy Times 1940. Whenever i try to escape in the deep, the destroyers always seem to know my exact position (spotlights and DC runs.) and never loose my track. There Asdic, maybe only on some escorts, always pinpoint me 100%. I tried different depths, running silent, staying stopped for a while, changing course often.

It seems that nothing is random ?

You can configure the difficulty to your taste in:

\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\AI\init.aix

###################### Difficulty parameters ####################
# Note: difficulty is in range 0 - 100 with 0 being no difficulty (sensor doesn't exist)
# all the below get divided by 100 in code
# for non-merchants
VISUAL_DIFFICULTY_MIN = 95;-> put a lower value here
VISUAL_DIFFICULTY_MAX = 100;
HYDROPHONE_DIFFICULTY_MIN = 95;-> put a lower value here
HYDROPHONE_DIFFICULTY_MAX = 100;
RADAR_DIFFICULTY_MIN = 95;
RADAR_DIFFICULTY_MAX = 100;
SONAR_DIFFICULTY_MIN = 95; -> put a lower value here
SONAR_DIFFICULTY_MAX = 100;


Play with those values, and remember that Min number < Max number

Can somebody fix the ability that the crew AI shoot with the flak correctly, because in stock sh5 and with irai, the u-boat crew just shoot of the mark
read info of wamphyri's mod, he fixed it
I miss that in IRAI

Can you please provide me with a step by step guide how to edit this mod so that the Ai is not so formidable.
I am a newbie and they are just too powerful. Also I have just finished reading IRON COFFINS a biography of a u boat commander. In it the deystroyers never open fire with machine guns or cannon on the uboats but seek to ram them and/or depth charge them. In your mod the deystroyers open accurate fire in heaving seas and intense rain as well as in the pitch dark.

I've also lowered my MAX difficulty levels to something less than 100. I think I have my max difficulty at 95 b/c I agree, sometimes the escorts have ridiculous sonar and hydrophone skills. Don't get me wrong, this mod made the game worth playing but when an escort can hear my cook fart from 3,000 meters away while I'm submerged at 145 meters on silent running...it's too hard. That's why we can adjust it.
