Default 2011/12 official Subsim NHL thread

We have a NFL thread
We have a Rugby thread

I think it's time to make a thread on NHL, for us who LOVE ishockey

My favorite NHL team is Calgary Flames

My favorite hometeam is Røgle BK

And offcourse Tre Kronor.

In general I like to watch a good game.

I was an avid fan once, had my favorite team, never missed a season watching them play. When they moved to Texas I lost all interest in having anything to do with the NHL.

Hey Norman! BITE ME you farking looser. Didn't you once say only an idiot could lose money in Minnesota ice hockey? You're an idiot and always will be you traitorous DORK.

The last sentence most be "discussion" you have with an another subsimmer. However I would be glad, if you could hold back those swearings.

Regards

This.

Then I discovered Russian hockey.

I've been to a bunch of these guys games, met their coach, and met Khabilulin

@nikimcbee, wich team in the KHL is your favorite?

I can't say that I have, maybe it's because I haven't seen so many game from Russia.

I do know, that KHL is becoming more and more popular in Sweden.
On Viasat Ishockey(a channel only dedicated to...ishockey) they show 2-3 matches/week/ season

I have been a lifelong Canucks fan because I was born and raised in Vancouver.

Most years being a 'Nucks fan has been a curse. They are of course a good team of late but I would not predict a Cup Finals appearance for them again this season. My best guess is that second round will be our lot.

@the_tyrant: Don't feel bad, you could have a team that lost twice in Game 7 in recent history... that hurts.. or a city that hasn't had The Cup since 1915! (96 years!!) Not too many Vancouverites alive remember the last time the city has won the cup. The story of the Leafs is one of bad management, but at least there is also success in living memory. BTW, isn't the plural of leaf, leaves?

I admire that you stay with your team whatever they win or loose. Some of my friends "skip" they team when the start to loose or get kicked from highest level(Elitserien) and have to play in either Allsvenskan or division 1.

My swedish team Rögle have been at the top and down to division 1..but..they are my favorite.

NHL: I do hope Calgary will perform better play this season. I must confes that I haven't been following who's gone and who's not in Calgary.

That rekindled bad memories.

I'm also old enough to hold a grudge because of the Lakers leaving Minneapolis.

the grammar fails
still, the Canucks are competitive, unlike the Leafs, most of my friends don't even expect the Leafs to make it to the playoffs

LETS GO FLYERS!!!

Winter Classic this year in Philly - hope I can get decent tickets, since it's Flyers-Rangers... should be an awesome game!

The perpetual playoff team (eight DNQs in 40+ years) will, hopefully, bring home the Cup soon - the loss to the Blackhawks two years ago was tough to take!

Chicago Blackhawks fan since '93.

And yes, the North Stars should have never left Minnesota. Such a grand rivalry that no longer exists.
