Default Icebergs

Hello all,

... Looking at the .rnd campaign file here and I have a question.

Has ANYONE actually seen an iceberg in-patrol in career mode?

Kind of embarrassing, but a long time ago I actually hit one and sank off the coast of Labrador. Seriously, I did - I'm not joking. The most idiotic thing I've ever done on patrol...

Sounds like time compression jumped up and bit ya. Thanks for responding AG124 sir.

I have yet to see one in career mode. I have been beginning to think that the iceberg feature was broken.

Just for confirmation's sake... has anyone else seen one?

They are out there up North but from what I have seen in other threads on the subject very few were put in.So you will almost never see one.

Actually there are several of them. They all start north of the Arctic Circle, and I think all drift southward. They are defined in the .RND layer. It's a big ocean though, and you might never see one. If you are handy with the mission editor, make a single mission and put a few in. As someone said, don't hit one (in the dark).

And timetraveller wins the longest post of the year award!

BTw, in my Bismarck movie, you can see the icebergs nicely when the ships are near the icepacs of Greenland.

Thanks Time Traveller and Type 941...

TT- I think I found 60 Iceberg entries in the .rnd layer. I have even gone far north of the game map hunting for them. (before I noticed the spawn dates) Maybe they just don't come too far south... will check some of the long/lats in the M.E.

Type 941- Yessir! I have all versions of your Bismarck movie and remember a scene where one of the ships passes behind an iceberg in the fog... and a lightning strike at the same time... VERY COOL SHOT!

I may eventually due some tinkering with the last IC mod to increase the commonality of icebergs in certain areas at certain times.
