I have sworn off of harbor raiding. It's too cheap, I feel. It's more satisfying if you ambush a Task Force...

Till now, Gibraltar is easy to sneak in and easy to sneak out.
Also the defence is very weak too (only one ELCO-Boat, a armed Trawler, a search-aircraft and a Destroyer comes later).
And they looking most on the wrong places.

Back to Topic:
It is about the capital ship (in this case the NELSON) why I just do it.
I try to follow the Sistership Rodey with 23 KN but was not able to catch her.

Also it would be suicide to attack over water.

Edit:
Harbor Raidings are dangerous anyway. Once I got lucky not to hit a mine when I entered Dünnkirchen, but when I try to left it via the "main entrance" I was hunted down by a Destroyer or I was hit by a mine.

I got lucky that Dünnkirchen had a 2nd entrance / exit what I could left (almost) undetected.

I like ambushing TFs, too. It's more fun when the warships actually sink rather then drop down half a meter into the water and then rest on the harbor floor.

Any maps with the routes of TF that including Capital ships?
Maybe not all, but a few if possible....

Or they appear just random in the later years of the war?

I think you should be trying out the SpySat mod....otherwise posting TF locations would be a game spoiler for everyone who read this thread.

Turn the tc to x512 and you'll get live updates of over 90% of the traffic in the SH3 world.

There's a bunch of really, really big TF's on June 5th and 6th, 1944. Check the Channel!

Very true but there have been numerous reports over recent years of people experiencing CTD's in that area

Never tried that. I'm guessing in short bursts only so as to avoid the very sudden appearance of enemy aircraft?

All you guys are so lucky, having sighted and sunk large capital ships. I'm on my FOURTH campaign and only JUST RECENTLY sighted - and sank, I'm proud to say - an Auxiliary Cruiser. Thus far she's the largest warship I've sighted. Now that I have the GWX I'd hoped things would change, but nothing so far...not even a CL!

Played SH3 for sometime now and the best warship I sunk in a Campaign was a Southampton-class cruiser, and that was 15mins ago.

Good moment, C3,Large Merchant, Orecarrier.... Oh what have we here?
