how does one clean up the registry, i looked at regedit and i was LOST, again thank you for your time

In my experience it is forgetting to do this that leads to reinstall problems.
Well, it has for me every time I've forgotten to do it anyway.

Still, it's a good idea to get into the habit of cleaning the registry periodically, so to answer your next question

It's dead easy to use, and free too.
