reinstalling gwx gold and commander 3.2

can someone please help me. i have a stock copy of sh3 that i added gwx to and then added commander 3.2 to. there are some mods in there but that is irrelevant. i accidentally deleted the whole thing and when i reinstall the sh3 from steam(which is where i got the original from) it goes just fine. the problem is that when i try to install gwx it is complaining that there are modded files and the gwx cant continue. this happens every time, and i am using a fresh install with no "mods" directory. does anyone know how to get around this. thank you in advance.

Welcome to Subsim.
Have you cleaned your registry after deleteging all files?
You have also to delete the files in C:\Documents and Settings\User\my documents that the SH3 uses to save your careers.

Good luck and happy hunting!

In my experience it is forgetting to do this that leads to reinstall problems.
Well, it has for me every time I've forgotten to do it anyway.

Still, it's a good idea to get into the habit of cleaning the registry periodically, so to answer your next question

I use CCleaner
It's dead easy to use, and free too.
