I've only played a few in my life. Use to love Novalogics Delta Force series back in the old days. Probably first game to have large online multiplayer with large maps.

Dwarf Fortress, enough said. 90% of other games are Skinner Boxes.

Mine are (in order of systems)

Nintendo 64: Extreme G (1 of only 2 racing game i play to date), Super smash brothers, 007

PS1: Crash bandicoot, Crash Bash, Crash team racing(2nd racing game)

PS2: Mercenaries: Playground of destruction, GTA San Andreas, Final Fantasy XII (can be very frustrating some times), Socom: Combined Assault, and Heroes of the Pacific.

PC:
Empire Total War (has so much potential its scary, wonderful game),
Battlefield 1942 complete collection,
Call of Duty World at War (nazi zombie maps are free to PC users, haha),
Silent hunter 4 & 5,
Counter Strike Source,
Day of Defeat source,
Battlestations pacific,
Company of Heroes,
Fallout New Vegas (F3 was beyond ridiculously bugged on PC), and
Halo: Combat evolved.

Those i didnt mention werent *all* that worth mentioning. i liked them, but either they are the type of game you play through a couple times and get sick of the repetitiveness, or they werent that good to begin with.

Left for Dead 2 and Bioshock 2 are works in progress, havent played enough of either to speculate.

Victoria II is currently my favourite game. It's easy to mod and if Paradox keeps releasing expansions like with Europa Universalis III (every expansion mind blowingly improved gameplay) it has a potential of a game I'll keep playing for years.

GOG HAD xcom for free but when Steam started selling it I think they dropped it from their inventory.

It runs quite well in Windows xp. Have not tried to run it on Win7.

Does it run in fullscreen in Win7 64bit? I could not get it to on Winxp.
