i got hooked on the general idea of submarines when i was 4. almost everyday i kept re-watching the titanic. Just to see it sink . I loved seeing it go under, and snap in half. not the people. just the ship. thats all i watched it for. so really i was getting a daily dose of the art of sinking commercial vessels. My fate happened to lead me here. Now i spend chunks of my day, sitting down and glaring through a periscope at a juicy, ripe tanker, lining at my shot, and giving it the 2-KO punch, all to have me rage as they cleanly miss, and i surface and unload my deck gun.

ahhhh. Good times.

im actually a little skeptical of traveling on a cruise. Im always afraid of staring off the port bow and seeing a party ferret with a wicked grin on his face

I hate big cruise ships in general. They freak me out.

Sinking them, on the other hand, is something I can do.

IMO a ship that big should be either transporting large cargo, oil, or something else inanimate. Or be armed to the teeth with planes, guns, ASW, helicopters, ect.

If I wanted to go to water parks and visit Pacific islands, I'd drive 30 minutes to Holiday World, spend a day, then hop on a plane. It'd be cheaper, too, and not so many annoying kids.

I'd much rather be 100 some feet below the surface where all the surface threats and harsh weather conditions don't affect me.

What was the cruise ship that was dead in the water/powerless not that long ago? All because of a diesel engine oil casualty? Yeah, those things are well made.

Between engine failures, fires, and disease spread aboard those things, I'd much rather sink 'em via a subsim that ride on in the real world.

When you drive a Ford Mustang (like I do) and think "general topics" instead of "Gran Tourismo" when someone says "Mustang GT"

I went swimming today in the lake and I see two boats full of Japaneese tourists and I slipped bellow the surface only my eyes were above the water (along with my ever barer forehead), did calculations, lost my composire and yelled TORPEDO LOS !!!! so half the people in the lake including all the boat passengers looked what was my problem. So much for silent running

My first idea was I'd swimm close to the boat really not obvius, then grabbed the boat, pulle dmyself up and yelled GODZILLA. But then I'd get my head clobbered with an oar

Ol' fat McBee, me thinks.

If you could see the laptop image better, you'd see the SH4 control room.

So, you get one chance to be on a real live submarine, and you spend the time playing a game? I hate to think about what you do when you're on 'your' PT boat.
