Can you replicate this reaction if you're sitting upright in a chair, rather than cross-legged on the floor? Or does this only happen then?

I imagine that if it's only when you're sitting on the deck, that it's related somehow to the nerves/muscles in your lower back or upper legs; likely some nerve or blood vessel pressure.
Thanks I suspected you what wrote too.

Well I just realized this when I started to pray by sitting cross legged on the floor at another person home. Then I realized my body would only start to jerk in rhythm when I focus my mind to God.

Sometimes the jerking would not be there though. But it always occurred when I'm sitting cross legged on the floor and simply focusing my mind as if in prayer. Any other posture would not result in the rhythmic jerking.

I've realized it's not my torso and above and it seems even my cross legged legs are also jerking so the whole body is jerking back and forth in rhythm which started as weak and subtle then gathering its pace until the whole body is jerking back and forth but never violent and I can still stop it.

Sometimes the jerking would not occur though. I'm not sure what actually triggered it. I tried it again just after waking up today and it's there and it wasn't because I was jerking my own body but just now it seems not to be there or I'm not sure if it was me who was jerking my own body. It feels like my natural movement while sitting cross legged on the floor and with my mind focused is jerking back and forth in rhythm.

The thing is, Castout, what do you want to hear? I've got the assumption you only post this here because you need people to confirm it is indeed your god who causes the shaking, and you're just waiting for that confirmation. If someone came up with a plausible explanation having nothing to do with the christian god (and I'm sure there are dozens), would you believe him? I think you want to have some kind of confirmation for yourself it is indeed caused by the christian god. Well, nobody can tell you for sure. (Personally I'm sure the christian god doesn't exist, but would you believe that? Exactly. That's the point.)
If you believe it's the christian god that's causing the shaking, I'd say continue believing so and be happy about it. Don't ask other people because they can never tell the truth about it anyways because everyone is biased. A very religious christian will probably say it's very possible it's indeed your god that's causing the moving, while an atheist or someone of a different faith will come up with a different explanation and not even consider the countless religious possibilities. Since you're biased as well, you'd probably choose the explanation that best suits your own ideas. And thus end up with the "confirmation" it's indeed god. Please spare this to yourself.

Just my 2 cents
I'm just looking what could be causing it. I'm not expecting it to be God actually. I'm just afraid of neurological disease or brain damage

God's name is Harold by the way. It is in the Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven. Harold be thy name.....

I thought God's name was Andy...

from that Anne Murray song:

"Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me, Andy tells me I'm his own."

Sometimes Harold and sometimes Andy.

He has some explaining to do with these aliases.

Something to hide?

I'm not a physician by any stretch of the imagination, but I have suffered "permanent" nerve damage resulting from an automobile accident, so I'm somewhat familiar with the processes.

Other than the motion you described (which sounds like spasms), are you experiencing any numbness/loss of feeling, especially in your legs? Have you noticed any recent change(s) in your ability to move (stiffness, pain in your joins, headaches w/dizziness) when NOT engaged in this activity? (In other words, are you aware of changes in how you use your body outside of this particular act?) How is your range of motion for your limbs, neck, head? Important: Have you experienced ANY head injury - at all, no matter how minor - in the last few weeks? Have you a history of head, neck, or spinal injury?

There are a lot of factors involved, and the nervous system is perhaps one of the least understood human physiological structures. If you're truly concerned about this, I would recommend seeing your physician, especially if you answered YES to any of the questions in the above paragraph.

Good luck.

If it's a true neurological disorder, you can't stop it be not praying. It could be some stress disorder, maybe in your prayers you're dealing with some issues that cause you stress and your brain is reacting to them...

Sitting cross legged isn't a requirement for prayer, so maybe another position. Shoot, I do most my bible reading and prayer sitting on the toilet, bout the only quite place in my house..

No one here can DX you, if you're concerned, I would see my Doctor.
