No, seriously: what kind of phenomenon is this? It definitely doesn't look like a sub to me, but I find the long wake rather interesting.

Image was taken at a time when the last of the ice cover was melting away, and on one occasion the ice ripped out a private pier and the drifted off with it. This picture might be just that, the melting ice is "slushy" and the pier (or a piece of it) is stuck at the front, drifting along. Whatever it is, it is around 150 meters out according to the eyewitness. Interesting nontheless, and certainly brings back memories of Swedish choppers, depth charges and the all round paranoia of the 80's and early 90's.
