So who left (girlfriend or computer)???? ![]() ![]() on topic, I dont think German uboats used pings to get range to target. I use the four bearing method, or stadimeter if target is in visual range. link ---> New and improved four bearing method Edit - After watching your vid, I see you used estimated range from sonar guy in your vid. How accurate is his estimate??? Guess this is possible if its not to accurate, as with experiance he could guess the range by how loud the sound was.

actully its very accurate for getting the range, so yeh realizm wise its not too true, but least now i can play with out map contacts and actully get something with out ever poping scope up....
But Ston what i didnt know and found out after trying this numorus times is that in order to get an accurate reading range wise you have to move the hydrophone to where he says the bearing is before you ask for range. in your tutorial you never said that tho i saw you stayed there alot, i just didnt know you had to manually do it. i figured once you had him track the target he would track it....kept getting targets course way off, i had him going away more or less, was funny though i would still hit him but way sooner then i figured... Thats how i realized, i turned map contacts back on and tried it again to see where i was going wrong. great tutorial tho. tought me alot about plotting and how you can hit ships with out firing on 0 degree fast 90...though i do that alot |

So yeah, 4BM is the best option on tracking new targets, or.. just listen yourself and make your own estimation then head to the contact until you get into the visual range. But only in good weather conditions, otherwise 4BM is the one to go. Especially after 41 when the escorts start using radars too. |

I just watched your newest video on the 4 bearing, very good video...i think it will take me some time to get all the steps down but it will make playing in fog very nice lol...
Question for you tho, actully two questions... 1. how do i know when i have to subtract the bearing from 360. Is it when ever the bearing is more then 180? 2. you always say in your video that you hit the "Zeth" key to have your hydro guy give you bearing...what is the Zeth key...i assume its the "Z" key but in english i dont know what key it is... |
