Does anyone else have any ideas on how to fix stuttering animations. My game runs smooth as silk except for the following animations which appear to "hang" and stutter.

Bow wave
deck water
bubbles coming from sub
All Explosions.

FPS is good and consistent but when I look at any of the above graphics they stutter while the rest of the game runs smooth. Explosions are exceptionally bad.

I can fix the problem by alt-tabbing out adn running the game in realtime priority but I've heard that can be bad for your system and cause CTDs

I saw an old post by SteelViking where he talked about decompressing the dds files for these textures which woudl fix the problem. Unfortunately, he did not leave directions on how to do this.

ANyone know?

Dignan, are you running the game on multiple processors? I noticed those problems when accidently running the game on one core.

In the same tab as set priority, check set affinity, and make sure all boxes are checked.

I'll check that but I'm pretty sure both my cores are running.

I also found an old post that claims that turning off the antivus program and reinstalling the game fixes this. Don't ask me why or how.

Perhaps you can try, you never know. This game seems to be very fussy with whats on your computer. Have you tried tried running any compatibility modes?

Video card settings default? Refresh rate change?

Good luck..

What's a compatibility mode?

My video card is set to the defualt, yet. I've messed with screen refresh a little bit but doesn't seem to help.

The FPS is good. Everything runs smooth except for the bow wave, deck splashes and explosions. They seem to hang about every half second while the rest of the graphics flow along at a nice smooth framerate. It has something to do with just these indivdual animations.
