Many thanks Rubini.....
In my case due to my monitor and video conditions it is extreme dark, i can see nothing, even my own crew at bridge. I know there are extreme dark nights, but there are anothers not too dark, i am looking for a file wich can give me a liitle capacity to spot the horizon line and watch ship silouetes. Is too long a tutorial to manual edit the file ? Thanks in advance. |

You need first to extract the two textures files form SkyColors_Atl.dat file using the Timetraveller SH3 Unpacker tool. Then open the reflex_atlantic.tga with a Image Editor (Photoshop or GIMP). I use GIMP, it's free. Then select only the night sea texture and change the brightness parameters and save. Do the same with the the Sky_atl1.tga file, but here you need to mess with alpha channel. Save them, repack and all is ok!
If you prefer I can do it for you, ok? ![]() Rubini. |

![]() Changes in sky i made had no effect, but in the water surface they was successful. Of course, it is not a real view, but i was able to spot the this destroyer at about 1000m. Before i was not able to spot my own crew at bridge. Stay working in a more clear sky and in a little bit more dark water surface, it is a little too clear. Lot of thanks. |

Note about editing the sky: You have to make the color much much lighter than you really want it to be. For some reason, the night sky doesn't use the same brightness of the tga...

Hi both Marhkimov and Rubini.............
I made both things you wrote, i medae the left top square more light color and reduce its transparence to 10%. No way...... sky remains enought dark so it do no let me to watch or spot any ship silouette. With the water surface i was success, but i can spot the ships so latter :rotfl:, they shoot me before i am able to spot them. That shiny water surface looks good for impresive sceen shots, but i am looking for a little bit more clear sky background, to be able to spot them almost at 2000m. Still on job. |

@ Rubini
I am sure that you are aware of how I created the sunlight reflection on the water. Just in case you do not know, I simply added the white squiggly line to the bottom left box. So perhaps adding the same squiggly line to the top left box will do the same for moonlight reflections? There might be some other ramifications to doing this (reflections when there is no moon, etc.), but could you try it and see what happens? Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't... I would do it myself, but I have temporarily uninstalled SH3... Computer problems, if you will..... Thanks bud, Marhkimov

marhkimov,
When I was making the night environment I try this "white squiggly line" on the nigth sea texture and the result is like you said: the moon reflection appears - but - the "white squiggly line" was always visible even without moon. You obviously notice that for the day light SH3 have 4 or 5 textures, this way the sun reflection only appears when it's necessary... And I tried the opposite too: I change the day light texture with that "white squiggly line" and use another without, the result is no sun reflection. I thought that this is why Sergei don't achieve to enable the moon reflection: the secret is on the sea texture, but SH3 only manage one texture for the night sea. I guess that we could never had a correct moon reflection... ![]() Rubini. |

So what about a compromise? Rubini, what if you were to try a more faint or smaller "squiggly line?" Have it so that it doesn't reach the center of the circle, if you know what I mean. Maybe we could make the reflection look correct with or without a moon... It's a half-fix, I know, but at this point, let's try everything that we can possibly think of... Marhkimov out

Rubini,
Would you like me to take a stab at the night reflections? I have reinstalled SH3 and I seem to be back in business. Ready or not textures, here I come!! ![]() -Marhkimov
