Hum? I play SH3 for 2 years and I never had problems with saving. And I save a lot, mainly when about to raid some harbor or going on dangerous areas for too long (Caribbean and North America's coast in 1943)

Mods? to be honest... you shouldnt be having resource issues with that setup.... it's pretty good!

If your using some heavy mods though, Wilhelmshaven, FM int, etc.. you might though....

Nope def not a resource issue then....must be a mod conflict.

The only one I don't have 'Hitman Optics for GWX v.1' but I doubt that is the cause....all I can suggest is a fresh install I'm afraid.

The SH3 game engine is often ever so unforgiving/tempramental.

Just a thought:
Are your case and power supply cooling fans working? Dusty innards inside the case?

Probably not your problem, but you never know.

I had issues early on with the game on my old rig of the game crashing about an hour or so into the game. I could usually set my clock by it.
I tried everything-more RAM, defrags, registry cleaning, different settings-nothing helped.

Then I read something on the forum about blowing the dust out of the case. It got me thinking and I checked my fans too-neither were running.

I blew out the dust from the case and ordered a new case fan and power supply. Until they arrived, I played with the case opened up and, lo and behold, no crashes.
The whole problem was a heat issue.

After installing the power supply and fan, I didn't have any problems.

Like others have said, it is more likely a mod issue or, like jimbuna said, SH3 just being tempermental.

Lifeboats and Hitman's optics(or GUI) could be reason for ctds. My machine never liked them together.

Funny you should mention it. I had a 450 W power supply originally (computer is only a year or so old). When I got the new graphics card, it smoked the PS in about 3 minutes.

So I pulled a 500 watter out of another PC I had. It died about a month ago.

I went and put in a new 750 watter. Of course I used my air compressor to blow out all the dust and clean out all the heatsinks, etc.

I don't think I have a thermal issue.

Oh, also I'm running the Hi-Res mod. Doesn't show up in JSGME. Anyway, I loves me some lifeboats! Can't do without that. I could try another GUI but I have to run something that moves the fire button, otherwise in hi-res mode when you click out of the periscope the mouse lands on the fire button and fires a torpedo!
