More frustration
So I play one more mission last night. Again I'm east of the Rockall bank and I detect radar signals. I close, and it's a massive task force. One Bogue-class carrier, two Whale Factory ships and a Large Tanker. Must have had 7 destroyers. Moving at a good clip south-west at 9 knots.
I do an end-around and am moving into attack position when I detect more radar signals. A second task force is coming up from the south! It's a Bogue-class with destroyer escorts. This is the first time I have seen two convoys converge. I fire two eels at the large tanker, one duds and the other explodes under the keel. I swear the TIIIs seem more dud-prone than the TIIs. I fire a two at the Bogue, and miss. Fortunately one is a FAT and starts swimming around. I'm diving like mad for the red zone, and the FAT torpedo hits - and SH3 crashes to desktop. :( I guess it couldn't take all those ships. |
Yeah...sounds like a resource issue....sh!t happens at the most annoying times :hmmm:
|
And AGAIN!
A whole evening of SH3 shot. I intercept a convoy, unload all my torps, and dive. Withstand 3 destroyers taking turns at me for 2 hours, finally all but one give up. I come to periscope depth and nail him with a magnetic. Surface, set off chasing the convoy, come across a dead-in-the-water Large Tanker from the first attack. Start shelling it from 5000m with my deck gun, and SH3 CRASHES TO DESKTOP. ARRRGH! |
A real shame to waste a couple of hours of successful evasion...
Perhaps lighten the resource load (if you can) and hang in there! |

Once I found a task force going out of the english Channel and there was the HMS Hood, HMS Prince of Whales and HMS King George V, several light cruisers and about 5 destroyers (Real low number of DDs - lucky mine) I managed to sink the HMS Hood and damage the HMS Prince of Whales pretty bad (TIME PARADOX!!!), then the game crashed. :damn: I went to YouTube to relax some and calm the nerves and loaded the game before the attack and managed to sunk both (MORE TIME PARADOX!!!:dead:) Some people say it's not cool to save the game before an attack, but say that when your ****ing game crash so much like mine... |

Saving in the vicinity of any ships has been known to cause save problems.

The only one I don't have 'Hitman Optics for GWX v.1' but I doubt that is the cause....all I can suggest is a fresh install I'm afraid.
The SH3 game engine is often ever so unforgiving/tempramental. |
Just a thought:
Are your case and power supply cooling fans working? Dusty innards inside the case? Probably not your problem, but you never know. I had issues early on with the game on my old rig of the game crashing about an hour or so into the game. I could usually set my clock by it. I tried everything-more RAM, defrags, registry cleaning, different settings-nothing helped. :damn: Then I read something on the forum about blowing the dust out of the case. It got me thinking and I checked my fans too-neither were running. I blew out the dust from the case and ordered a new case fan and power supply. Until they arrived, I played with the case opened up and, lo and behold, no crashes. The whole problem was a heat issue. After installing the power supply and fan, I didn't have any problems. :sunny: Like others have said, it is more likely a mod issue or, like jimbuna said, SH3 just being tempermental. :) |
