That help would have been Japan. USSR intelligence had it's contacts in the right places and found out that Japan will not attack the Soviet Union. Now all the divisions defending the eastern borders of the country were free for the battles in the western part, it did take them quite some time to get there though. They arrived somewhere near the battle for Moscow, if I remember correctly of course.
