Can you refit before completing current objective?

When I have used my payload, I end the mission and go on R&R. I don't want the wife to nag me about (1) racking up tonnage and medals by simply reloading and returning to action, (2) wasting valuable torpedoes, and (3)lying to myself and everyone else aboutl what a skilled commander I have become. I reloaded once, and I never heard the end of it. I had to wear a flak jacket to protect myself, even in the bedroom.
